Her leadership and achievements have been recognized with her selection as the 2024 Superintendent of the Year for NERESA (Northeast Regional Education Service Alliance). Key highlights of Dr. Turner's career and accomplishments include:
Extensive experience in various educational roles, from classroom teacher to administrator and superintendent. Demonstrated success in improving school performance, including meeting or exceeding growth targets and reducing disciplinary issues. Strong financial management, growing the district's fund balance from $2,000 to over $1,000,000. Securing significant grants and funding, including a $36.9 million capital outlay needs-based grant for a new school. Implementing innovative programs and improvements, such as a therapy dog program and new sports facilities. Improving district performance with no low-performing schools and being in the top 10 list for highest credential attainment rate in NC. Enhancing community and stakeholder relationships, including improved relations with county commissioners. Leadership in professional organizations, including serving as Chair of NERESA. Numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2024 Distinguished Educator Award from NCASCD and the 2022 Dr. Dwayne Stallings Leadership Award from NCSSA.
